Although I'm not a regular blogger, I am a regular blog reader. I have also helped create a number of websites that have blogging capabilities. But with so many different blogging platforms, how do you know which one is right for you? Well let me help!
Although I know there are more than just Wordpress and Blogger, in my experiences those seem to be the most popular amongst young business professionals. Is one better then the other? Which one fits your needs?
I have built a number of sites using wordpress and love the site! However, in order to compare these two accurately, I decided to expand from my Wordpress ways and build my Internet Business Application Blog with blogger. What did I find?
Wordpress
I'm going to be honest, I love Wordpress!! One of the best features of this site is its flexibility. The user can completely customize their site - from their CSS to their URL domain, the site is yours! The ability to add navigation bars and pages makes your blog feel like a "real" website. Your posts are just one element of your entire site.
What's the caught? Wordpress takes a little while to learn. Although the basic setup is pretty simple, if you really want to use Wordpress as your website's content manager you do need to know a little about how the web works - it's not all WISYWIG. Although there are a number of different tutorial and forums online that can help, there is definately a Wordpress learning curve users have to master. If you're looking for a simple, instant blog, Wordpress might not be for you.
Blogger
Blogger seems to have the opposite problem, it's TOO simple. Blogger is great for the "one-click" blog. You sign up, title it, and your pretty much ready to start writing. But unlike Wordpress, Blogger is stuck being "just a blog". You cannot create pages and navigations bars (atleast not yet). However, Blogger does tend to be more networking-friendly. Because every blogger site is pretty similar, users focus much more on the blog's content and tend to be more interactive.
Summary:
Wordpress - harder to learn but a more sophisticated end result
Blogger - simple and fast but much less customizable.
